The AN225 was the largest plane on the planet before it was destroyed. Built between 1984 and 1988, the AN225 was made as a heavy lift aircraft. Initially, it carried soviet space shuttles. However, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the AN225 was put into service with Antonov Airlines in Ukraine. The aircraft continued service with Antonov Airlines until 2022. During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the airport that the AN225 was stored came under attack, and the plane was subsquently destroyed. Plans are underway to remake the aircraft after the war though.
